Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the following leadership staffing appointments for the 2023-2024 school year effective August 1, 2023:

Darlene Bragg-Hounsell

Currently the Principal at Skeena Middle School, Darlene will be assuming the position of Vice Principal at the same school, a decision which we respect.  She plans on being very distracted with her new grandson.  Darlene has always had a reputation for bringing an enthusiastic, team-focused approach to everything that she does.  Learners, staff, parents and caregivers at Skeena Middle School will continue to benefit from Darlene’s administrative leadership and proven commitment to improving outcomes for children.

Darlene holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Education degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.

Cory Killoran

Currently the Principal at Uplands Elementary School, Cory will be assuming the role of Principal of Skeena Middle School.  Cory is a passionate advocate for success of all learners.  His reputation as a respected educator and school leader, and his knowledge of Skeena Middle School learners and families will serve the school community well in this transition.

Cory holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree both from University of Victoria and a Master of Education degree from University of Flinders (Australia).

Annette McAlpine

Currently the Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School, Annette will be assuming the position of Principal of Uplands Elementary School.  Annette has always demonstrated passion in her profession.  Her work in schools has placed an emphasis on equity as well as building positive relationships with learners, staff, and families. Annette’s reputation as a dedicated and respected elementary educator with a deep commitment to the success of young people will serve Uplands Elementary School very well.

Annette holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Brock University in St. Catherines, a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, and a Master of Education degree from Queen’s University in Kingston.
